A singing hopeful from Pitsea today branded the new Popstars: The Rivals programme "unfair" after she was allowed just seconds to perform.

Danielle Fairchild, right, 17, says she had already got an audition for the new ITV show but had not been able to pick up her message because she had run out of credit on her phone.

She instead queued nine hours for an open audition. However, she did not reach the next round and was not impressed.

She said: "I did not find it fair at all. I could not understand that I had got an audition but then I was not good enough."
