A scheme to create a skatepark for youngsters in Clacton has received a major boost with cash backing of £30,000 towards the project.
The park is to be built on land next to Clacton Leisure Centre, which is currently home to a children's adventure island.
But following a plea from youngsters in the area, the idea is to turn it into a skatepark as soon as possible.
The whole project is likely to cost between £80,000 and £100,000.
It is hoped to get about £30,000 from the Sports Lottery Fund as well as other areas of funding and now Tendring councillors are looking to pump in £30,000 as part of their small schemes budget of £55,000 for next year.
Pierre Oxley (Con, Southcliff), who has been pressing for the facility to be created, said it was great news.
