Four of the county's favourite charities are set to benefit from a Walk for Life event, sponsored by Countryside Properties and taking place in Great Notley Country Park on Sunday, August 25.

The Essex Air Ambulance, Farleigh and St Helena Hospices and PARC Essex, for a play and resource centre for disabled children, will all receive vital funds raised by the walk.

It is hoped that hundreds of people will take part in Walk for Life and that it will become an annual event on the fundraising calendar.

David Philpott, head of fundraising and development for Essex Air Ambulance said, "The walk will be a family friendly event that everyone can participate in. There will be entertainment and fun at the Great Notley Country Park for walkers and non walkers."

The gentle 10km walk, which is suitable for adults and children, will follow a route planned by the North Essex Ramblers Association.

The route starts and finishes in Great Notley County Park and passes through picturesque countryside and villages, skirting around the Felsted vineyards.

Money raised through sponsorship of the walkers will be divided between the charities involved.

More details about entering for the walk can be obtained by calling the Walk for Life information line on 01376 347134.
