A cat lover today told how a desperately ill moggy with a huge liver tumour was left for dead in a plastic bag on the back of a Canvey milk float.
Lindsey Woods, who single-handedly runs her own cat rescue charity, was contacted after the stunned milkman dropped the neglected feline into Benfleet police station.
The 41-year-old picked up the cat and whisked it to Downs and Partners vets in Rayleigh, where she had no option but to have the pet put down.
Lindsey, of Feline Friends Cat Rescue charity, said: "It has really broken my heart.
"I would have loved to have given her some love before she died, but she was too far gone because of her appalling condition, she was very weak."
