Holes and cracks in the pavement are causing havoc for fed-up pedestrians.
The walkways in the Chalvedon area of Basildon are a danger to residents, according to David Hutson.
He lives in Beambridge, Chalvedon, and says holes and cracks in the pavement outside his house are causing dozens of accidents.
He said: "For the past two years us residents have been waiting for Basildon Council to fulfil its promise to 'make-over' the footpaths outside our houses.
"There are holes and cracks all over the pavement and people are tripping up and falling over."
He said his 81-year-old mother Florence was one of the pavement victims.
Mr Hutson said the council called him this week to say it was still planning to do the work.
A Basildon Council spokesman said: "This is well known and an order has been raised for this work to be undertaken."
