Fans of Colchester United are some of the best-behaved in the country.
The club is bucking the national trend of a 15 per cent increase in football hooliganism in the First and Second Divisions, according to new Government figures.
Only three of the Layer Road club's fans were arrested last season, compared with six the year before.
That ranks the U's the second most trouble-free club in Division Two, only beaten by Wycombe Wanderers.
Colchester United spokesman Matt Hudson said today: "We have never really had a problem with things like this. Our supporters are very well behaved and we are very happy about that."
He said Colchester had a reputation as a family club and added: "The fans come along to enjoy themselves, not cause trouble."
