Children had the chance to put the picture stories created in their minds onto paper at a workshop in Southend Central Library.
Called Words and Pictures, the workshop was for any children aged between eight and 12.
Illustrator and designer Richard Lord worked with staff from the children's library, reading stories and helping the children make illustrations to accompany the plot.
Marion Cooper, youth arts partnership co-ordinator, said: "The workshop is a great way for children to engage with a story and to create something from it using their own imagination."
