Tenants who live in some of the worst council houses in the Braintree area are to play a lead role in shaping the future of council homes.
Braintree Council invited 150 of its tenants to a special exhibition organised by four companies who are bidding for five-year council contracts.
The householders, who come from Witham, Hatfield Peverel, Black and White Notley, all received personal invitations to the exhibition, which took place at John Bramston School, Spinks Lane, Witham.
They all live in properties which a recent housing condition survey identified as in urgent need of improvement.
Eileen Davidson, executive councillor for housing services, said: "The invited residents ranged in age from 18-95 and represented all walks of life.
"By attending this exhibition, they had their say about the future quality and type of furnishings installed in council properties."
