Canvey Island make the short trip across the Thames to Conference League new boys Gravesend and Northfleet for friendly action tomorrow.
The Kent outfit won promotion after beating the Gulls to the Ryman Premier League title on the final day of last season.
And Canvey boss Jeff King said he expected a tough fight against a Gravesend side managed by former Southend United full-back Andy Ford.
"It will be a very hard game against one of our old rivals," said King, who hopes to sign a new player in time for tomorrow's clash.
"There's no hard feelings about what happened last season and I'd like to wish Gravesend all the best and I hope they have a good year in the Conference."
The Islanders are expected to be at full strength except for central defender Steve Ward, who is still on holiday.
