Southend United boss Rob Newman wants his men to turn the heat on Third Division championship favourites Hull City when Blues kick-off their 2002/03 campaign at Boothferry Park tomorrow.
The Tigers are the top tip for the basement league title and are expected to be roared on by a 12,000-plus crowd against the Shrimpers.
But Newman has warned his players not to be intimidated and insisted that the pressure is all on the Humberside club.
Starting hopeful - Blues' Mark Rawle
"Hull are going to be very tough opponents, but we need to go there confident of getting a result," he said.
"There is a massive expectancy level at Boothferry Park this season. They've been spending big fees on players and will be cheered on by a huge crowd who want promotion.
"But all the pressure is on Hull to beat us and we need to turn the heat back on their players."
Blues have drawn their last four visits to Hull and have never lost a game at Boothferry Park while Newman has been with the Shrimpers.
