Fire crews have been pelted with stones after being called to deal with incidents at a travellers' site in Crays Hill, near Billericay.
Firefighters reckon calls to Oak Lane have in the last few months increased by 300 per cent since a group of travellers set up home on the site.
Fire crews have had to deal with blazing cars, but while they battle with the flames children have allegedly thrown rocks at the engines.
