A landmark Canvey cafe is to be knocked down and rebuilt.
The Concord cafe in Eastern Esplanade will be demolished and a two-storey building will be put up in its place.
This will include boat house, lifeguard facilities, kitchen and stores at ground floor and a cafe seating area.
It will also include a veranda and a first floor observation room for the lifeguard.
The move was approved at Castle Point Council's planning committee meeting when many councillors expressed delight at the proposal.
