There will be at least four new faces in the Colchester United line-up when the new Second Division season gets under way this weekend.
Mark Warren, Avery John, Danny Steele and Richard McKinney have already signed, while U's manager Steve Whitton also has one or two other likely candidates in the pipeline.
Warren, a former team-mate of Layer Road striker Kevin Rapley at Notts County, has signed on the dotted line for a season.
Trinidad international John has signed a similar deal, while McKinney, who could start the season in goal in place of regular number one Simon Brown, has initially signed on for a month.
Two faces will be missing from Layer Road this season following utility player David Gregory's decision to join his younger brother and former U's star Neil at Canvey Island and central defender Ross Johnson's release at the end of last season
