Fresh faces are needed to help put Harold's last remaining allotment and a cash grant of £2,600 to good use.
The Harold Hill Horticultural Society has received the money from the latest handouts from the Community Chest to build a storage hut and some new equipment including a strimmer, a mower and a flame gun to burn away weeds.
The society is also planning to hold an in-house competition next year to see which gardeners have the best allotments.
Society Secretary, Alan Tift, said: "We have a large site in Keats Avenue which is around three acres.
"It is the only allotment left in Harold and so we are keen to turn it into something special.
"We have been held up a little waiting for our lease to be renewed by Havering Council but this is all now in hand and so we are looking to make up for lost time and we are looking for new members to come forward."
