A boy aged 11 or 12 is suspected of terrorising Pitsea residents with his slingshot.
The catapult kid has been spotted near the town centre where residents are complaining of damage to windows.
PC Di Capon, of Pitsea police, said: "Easter is a notoriously bad time because children get a little bored.
"Windows have been damaged during the evenings for the last ten days.
"It may become a problem in the day as well now it is the Easter holidays."
One person had her glass doors smashed - they were only fitted the day before.
Residents reporting the problem have described a chubby boy wearing a cream baseball cap, jeans and trainers, possibly with a catapult.
Those with information are asked to call Pitsea police on 01268 532212.
