Essex County Council has won more than £70,000 from government to spend on refurbishing three gypsy sites in the county.
More than £40,000 will be spent on the 10 pitch Cranham Hall site, at Little Waltham, including work on the lighting and electrical work. The rest of the money will be spent on sites in Basildon and Harlow.
However, bids for another £110,000 worth of work at sites in Harlow, Felsted and Braintree were turned down.
Approximately 200 gypsy/traveller families live on the 190 pitches in the county.
