Southend's seafront illuminations are set for a £50,000 revamp to mark the Queen's golden jubilee.
Funds raised by the Southend Seafront and Illuminations Business Association will be matched by Southend Council up to a maximum of £25,000.
The cash will pay for new additions to the spectacular seaside lights that attract thousands of visitors to the town.
It is hoped the new illuminations will be in place sometime this year.
Phillip Miller, vice chairman of SSIBA and boss of seaside fun park Adventure Island, said: "We hope to do something quite spectacular with it, perhaps on the two roundabouts on Marine Parade."
The council has already agreed to stump up £25,000 for a range of other jubilee celebrations, including:
A massive seafront party at the end of the Southend Airshow
Provision of an information pack for people wishing to organise street parties
Presentation of commemorative golden jubilee medals to every primary school child in the borough
Lighting a beacon at the end of the pier
