Denise Cooper, head of vocational courses at King John School, in Shipwrights Drive, Thundersley, has been chosen to take part in the placement to Toronto and Niagara in Canada.
She will be working with Jonview Canada, a large Canadian tour operator and visiting various local attractions such as the stock market and the Sky Dome.
She will spend two days teaching at the St Paul's Academy, Niagara, during her time there, preparing sixth form students for university.
Denise is due to fly out to Canada on April 4 and will stay there until April 11.
She plans to take a selection of items with her to show the Canadian students what Essex is really like. She said: "The students I am going to be teaching are all very interested in tourism in this country.
"I will be taking lots of things from this area, including various books, pamphlets and even some sticks of Southend rock."
