Braintree inflicted Basingstoke's first home league defeat in over three months as a storming first half-hour of this match in Hampshire.
Having seen early chances for Paul Catley and Toby Sumner go begging, Braintree broke the deadlock on 27 minutes as Dean Parratt fed Brad Quinton, who beat Scott Tarr with ease.
Basingstoke came back into it after that, forcing an equaliser on the stroke of half-time as Mark Lisk's free-kick fouind Jason Bristow unmarked and he poked home.
An even second period was won with a touch of class on 78 minutes. Quinton negotiated space on the flank to centre a telling ball which Mark Jones swept home first time to the delight of the travelling supporters.
The win keeps Braintree 6th in the table.
