Castle Point MP Dr Bob Spink is backing efforts to secure a BMX and skate park on Canvey.
Mr Spink has been in touch with Karen Hoffman, who is spearheading the campaign, and told her he will do all he can to help in the project.
The MP feels the park would be the ideal place where bored youngsters can burn off energy and stay out of trouble.
He said: "I congratulate Karen Hoffman on her initiative, which is much needed.
"If her bid is successful, kids can get off the street where they are doing a lot of damage and annoying people - they will get their own dedicated track, which they truly need and deserve."
Castle Point Council has given its support to the park, set to be built at the rear of Waterside Farm Sports Centre, in Somnes Avenue.
Mrs Hoffman, of Ash Road, Canvey, was delighted to have the support of the borough's MP.
She said: "I think it is brilliant - anybody who wants to try to help the children is very welcome to join the campaign. I am very confident that the project will come off. Every day it is gathering momentum."
