Colchester captain Scott Fitzgerald was highly delighted to take a point off his old Wimbledon team-mate Lawrie Sanchez's Wycombe Wanderers team.
Fitzgerald added: "I would have preferred to have taken all three, especially as we had Wycombe under all sorts of pressure in the last half-hour.
"And speaking to Lawrie after the game he admitted he was relieved to have got away with a goalless draw.
"I thought we started the game well but then gave the ball away too cheaply until half-time.
"The second half was a different story and we really came on strong towards the end and were unlucky not to have scored the winning goal our play deserved."
Fitzgerald said: "It was still a valuable point for us and speaking as a defender I am always happy to keep a clean sheet."
He added: "I, like the gaffer, want to finish the season higher in the table and with more points than last year.
"I am very disappointed that we haven't passed those targets already, because we should have done, but there's still enough games left for us to do it."
