More jobs could go at insurance giant Royal London in Colchester.
A major "restructuring programme" is likely to see up to 200 people made redundant across the UK - and Colchester has not been ruled out.
Although the new plans will see more people bought in to the company, they will not be employed in similar jobs, and those made redundant can only apply for the new posts if they "have the suitable skills".
It is unsure at what level the jobs are set to go but the plans are to be finalised over the next few days and staff will be phased out within the next three months.
The news comes only 18 months after the firm announced a total of 750 workers based in Colchester were to be made redundant, due to an operational relocation to Cheshire.
There are now 5,500 employees nationwide, with 130 in Colchester.
Head of communications at the company, Gareth Evans, said the plans were "still subject to negotiations" but he expected it in three months.
He said it was too early to say if Colchester would be hit.
