Norwich City Football Club has been shown the red card - and a blue one, and a grey one - by Rayleigh credit card manufacturer Thames Card Technology.
It has been contracted to produce 25,000 plastic cards to be used instead of traditional season ticket books by loyal fans, enabling turnstile operators and stewards to quickly find useful information like stand allocation and whether the card belongs to an adult, child or senior citizen.
Danny Casey, Norwich City's customer sales manager, said: "Cards are a convenient alternative to the traditional season ticket books which you can't keep in your wallet and are time consuming at the turnstiles.
"In the future, by using card technology, they represent a valuable marketing tool. There is great potential."
