The children got the chance to get out of bed and stay in their nightwear to go to their nursery to raise money for an outdoor play area.
Staff and children at Happy Days Nursery, at Park School, Rawreth Lane, Rayleigh, had great fun into the bargain.
Later this year the nursery is changing venue. It will be based at Lubbards Farm, Hullbridge Road, Rayleigh, where it will have more room.
Staff at the nursery, which is owned by Toni Weidner, want to install an outdoor play area at the new site.
Toni said: "It was strange seeing everyone in their pyjamas but at least no one had to worry about what to wear!"
