Southend United boss Rob Newman wants his side to take some revenge when Scunthorpe United visit Roots Hall this weekend.

Scunthorpe are riding high in fourth place and Newman said ahead of tomorrow's game: "Scunthorpe are a good side and I've got a feeling they may still sneak in through the back door and nick the last automatic promotion spot.

"They've got very dangerous individual players who can win games in a flash, like our former midfielder Lee Hodges and their vastly experienced winger Peter Beagrie, who has played at the highest level.

"But we've got a score to settle with Scunthorpe. We lost 2-0 at their place in October, which was my first game as manager proper, and it would be nice to beat them on home soil."

Blues still have to contend with a nightmare injury-list however. Striking trio, Tes Bramble, Mark Rawle and Tony Richards, are all expected to miss out again with groin injuries. And full-back Mark Beard (stomach) is also sidelined.

Newman will pick a makeshift forward from himself, midfielder Stuart Thurgood and fit again skipper Phil Whelan, to partner Barrington Belgrave.

Teenage goalkeeper Daniel Gay should retain his place at Flahavan's expense. And fellow youngsters, defender David McSweeney and midfielder Leon Johnson, may also stay in the side, following last week's 1-0 win at Lincoln City.

Blues' under-19 side tackle Queens Park Rangers at Boots and Laces at 11am tomorrow.
