The director of education in Thurrock has been celebrating success with many of the borough's school pupils, parents and teachers.
A night of celebration was organised by Thurrock Council at Thurrock College to mark the successes recorded by youngsters in the borough.
Director of education, Steve Beynon, said he wanted to gather together all local schools to "demonstrate the wide range of success stories achieved inside and outside the classroom".
Each school in the borough was asked to nominate a group of pupils to attend as "ambassadors" for their school. Some were nominated for academic achievements, others for extra-curricular work, voluntary service, musical success and "exceptional individual achievement".
A commemorative booklet with photographs of all the pupils receiving certificates, as well as a video of the event, is being produced for those who took part.
