Motorcyclist Gary White, 36, died when he crashed into a car which pulled out in front of him, an inquest heard.
Mr White, of Fox Hall Road, Southminster, was riding his 900cc Yamaha in Latchingdon, when he was in a collision with a Ford driven by Alison Nihill, on August 29. Ms Nihill has been charged with careless driving.
A post mortem examination on Mr White detected amphetamine.
Crash investigator PC Steve Perrett said if Mr White had been within the 30mph limit he could have stopped, but he added: "The onus was on Ms Nihill to give way to the motorcycle which was clearly within her view."
Essex coroner Caroline Beasley-Murray recorded a verdict of accidental death.
