Students Andrew Walker has appealed for help after thieves stole his A-level coursework - which has to be in by the end of the week.
Andrew, 18, woke to find his Vauxhall Nova car had been broken into and his favourite CDs snatched.
But worse was to follow when he realised his sketch book, containing two years' worth of work, had also been taken.
The work makes up 60 per cent of his media course and has to be handed in by Friday.
Andrew, of Marine Parade, Dovercourt, said he hoped someone would come forward to return the sketchbook.
The break-in occurred in Marine Parade between 8.30pm on Thursday and 7.30am on Friday.
Anyone who can help should call Harwich police on 01255 241312 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
