A Basildon school has pledged its support for a walk to school week to reduce traffic and make children healthier.
During the National week from May 20 to 24, the Government is encouraging pupils to walk to school instead of using public transport or private cars.
Woodlands School in Takely End, Basildon, will be supporting the initiative and has made a plea to parents.
Headteacher Andy White said: "We are still getting lots of parents who are dropping pupils off in the school grounds. This causes serious traffic congestion in Takely end and Takely Ride.
"We are concerned about traffic congestion, safety of pupils and avoiding disruption to residents."
Mr White also pointed out that if parents must drop their children off it should be away from the school.
