Third Division championship chasers Luton Town have denied any interest in Southend United's midfield contract rebel Kevin Maher.
Hatters boss Joe Kinnear admitted he was aware that the 25-year-old could be available on a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season.
But the former Wimbledon manager said he wasn't in the running to capture the Irishman's signature.
"I know all about Kevin and I have had him watched," said Kinnear, whose side are second in Division Three.
"But I'm not interested in signing him. The last I heard he was on his way to Leyton Orient."
Maher has been the subject of a £20,000 bid from the O's, but they are expected to wait until the summer to get their man on a free transfer.
