A Colchester pre-school could be moving out of its home to make way for an educational support unit for youngsters.
Centre Pre-school has been looking for a new home since last summer after Essex County Council announced plans to change the use of the building where it meets.
The council is now considering using the pre-school's Straight Road base to house an integrated support unit, to give an education to children who have difficulties in school.
These include youngsters who have been expelled, have a fear of school, have medical difficulties or are pregnant.
The unit is currently based at Eagle House on the town's East Hill.
But a spokesman for Essex County Council's learning services said: "For reasons outside our control, we may have to leave those premises.
"We need to find an alternative venue for the young people."
