Colchester's cattle market reopened today after more than a year's break.
The livestock auction was close in Februrary 2001 amid fears of the foot-and-mouth disease spreading.

Farmers were expected to flood back to support the opening, but strict controls are in place to monitor visitor numbers.
Names and addresses must be taken - under rules from the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - of all those entering the Wyncolls Road site, to trace any future outbreak.
