Detectives in Basildon have urged four witnesses to come forward in a fresh attempt to catch a violent kidnapper who subjected his victim to a terrifying ordeal.
The 22-year-old man was walking along Broadmayne, Basildon, on the way home from his uncle's pub when he was forced into a black Ford Fiesta XR2.
The victim, who was visiting Basildon from the Plymouth area, was driven at high speed for up to ten minutes before the car stopped in Laindon.
During his ordeal he was prodded him with a screwdriver, and punched and kicked by his attacker.
Basildon detectives now believe a number of witnesses have yet to come forward following the incident last September.
Two women, who shouted out at the attacker, were known to have witnessed the brutal assault.
An elderly couple stopped and offered to take the man to casualty but he insisted they take him to the Joker pub, in Laindon shopping centre, to meet his uncle.
Det Con Nick Graham said: "The man was covered in blood so the couple should remember him. We are urging the elderly couple and the two women who shouted at the attacker to come forward."
The incident happened last year on Sunday September 16, at about 5.30pm. Anyone with any information is asked to call Det Con Graham at Basildon police on 01268 532212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
