Post-mortem results showed Anita Gordon, of Rowenhall, died from a severe head injury - thought to have been caused by a blunt instrument. Her body was discovered by her husband, Roger, at around 2.30am on Friday.
Police sources revealed Mrs Gordon worked in the nursing and care profession. Detectives were today desperate for any information about her movements in the 24 hours before her death.
Despite a thorough and ongoing search of the estate and nearby woodland, no weapon has yet been recovered.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Supt Win Bernard on 01277 262220 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
