Police have this afternoon confirmed the body of a woman found in a north Kent cement works is not that of missing Tilbury teenager Danielle Jones.
Over the weekend there had been fierce speculation that the body found on Friday at the Blue Circle cement works in Springhead Road, Northfleet, was that of the 15-year-old schoolgirl.
But an Essex Police spokeswoman said this afternoon: "Forensics experts have this morning carried out further investigations with regard to the body found in Kent on Friday morning and are content that it is not missing schoolgirl Danielle Jones. The search for her continues.
"Kent Police are still trying to identify the dead woman."
Still missing - schoolgirl Danielle Jones
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Danielle were called in after workmen made the discovery in Kent on Friday.
The complex is about five miles across the Thames from the spot where Danielle disappeared nearly nine months ago.
The body, found at 9am on Friday, was wrapped in a tarpaulin and found by a reservoir known by locals as the blue lake, near the Bluewater Shopping Centre at Dartford.
Danielle's uncle Stuart Campbell is held on remand charged with her murder. His trial is due to be held later this year.
