Bishop's Stortford went top of the Ryman League Division One after a hard-fought success at mid-table Uxbridge on Saturday.
Stortford look odds-on for a place in the Ryman Premier next season, although only two points separates them from 3rd-placed Ford United as the season nears a thrilling conclusion.
Things looked simple early on for the visitors, and their first attack of the game found Vinnie John unmarked at the far post to head home. After that, neither side were able to exert their full authority on the match, and Uxbridge drew level just before half-time when Danny Yeoman's free-kick squeezed past Micky Desborough's near post for the equaliser.
Undeterred, the league leaders hit back immediately as Trevor Paul found space to lash the ball home and further the excellent forward partnership established this year with Vinnie John - that's 49 between in league and Cup this season.
The points were made absolutely safe in injury time when Freddie Hyatt buried the ball into the top corner.
