Opportunist criminals are still targeting villages around Chelmsford.
Rural offences are still on the up despite warnings a month ago after a tenfold increase in burglary, vandalism and criminal damage.
Crime Reduction Officer Kathy Payne, of Chelmsford police, said lots of sheds and garages were being broken into in Stock, diesel was being stolen from farms in Roxwell, car badges were being stripped off cars in Roxwell and Writtle and a couple of caravans have been stolen from Writtle.
Mrs Payne said: "All the rural areas are definitely being hit. Residents are going out to work, leaving property empty and opportunists are taking advantage.
"Police are investigating and are carrying out more patrols."
