Young people are to blame for damage outside Canvey library, according to a Castle Point MP.
Bob Spink is furious at the vandalism outside the library in the High Street next to the Knightswick shopping centre.
The MP has now written to Castle Point Council and police to air his concerns.
He said: "It seems to me that youth nuisance is the cause of this and I suspect that we will not resolve this problem until we can find alternative sites for young people to gather and play."
Nigel Thomas, director of technical services at Castle Point council, has received a copy of the letter.
He said: "Every effort will be made in the future to try and alleviate these problems."
