Following a damning Ofsted report two years ago Canvey Junior School in Long Road was branded as failing which led to regular inspections from inspectors.
Jan Vaughan joined the school as head in April last year, and hopes next week the inspectors will come to the school and decide to return it to full status.
She said: "The last two reports from the inspectors have both been very good indeed and there is every indication that we could come out of special measures this time.
"There has been really rapid development in the last year at the school and standards have very much improved. This school has tremendous potential and that is beginning to shine through."
Mrs Vaughan has put a lot of the positive changes down to her dedicated staff.
