The largest independent care home in north-east Essex is being sold - but elderly residents at Walton's award-winning Blenheim House have been assured they will not have to move.
Martin Jenkins, the owner for 20 years, said one of his reasons for selling is the introduction of new care standard requirements next month.
The home is being bought by Charing Health Care, which is also negotiating a second home in Walton. Staff have been assured that there will be no changes.
Mr Jenkins admitted to being "a keen critic of the social services relationship with the private and voluntary provider of care."
