Matt Davies, Billericay's Formula Three race ace, is looking for a drive this term after missing out on another season in the F1 feeder series.

The 25-year-old came eighth in last year's championship, racing for Team Avanti, but has been unable to secure the financial backing for another season.

Now the driver, who followed in the tyretracks of Formula One star Jenson Button is trying to finalise a contract for the coming campaign.

And Laindon-based speedster David Guy is determined to bounce back from the disappointment of losing in the semi-finals of a national scholarship.

Success at Croft circuit, North Yorkshire, last week would have earned the 20-year-old a season as a pro driver in the Renaultsport Cup.

Father David Snr said: "He's looking for another way to get into it but we were very disappointed on the day.

"We didn't think the track was good enough to test anyone -- it was just an oval circuit and all the times were very close."

Due to the high cost of the sport, Guy is forced to look for scholarships and training routes to become a pro racer and fulfill a childhood dream.
