East Thurrock's future will be decided in the next couple of weeks.

Rocks have been hit by a financial crisis and are now the subject of a takeover bid. Currently the Corringham-based club is owned by its members who would have to agree to the sale, which is looking increasingly likely.

The financial crises led to the departure of manager Dave Card and the majority of the first-team players last week, with a predominently reserve side fielded at Leyton Pennant and not surprisingly East Thurrock lost 3-1.

Reserve team boss Ron Rogerson has agreed to take charge for the remaining ten Ryman Two fixtures and he and the club will no doubt be relieved that one of those isn't this weekend.

And East Thurrock won't have to worry about the Eastern Floodlight either following a 3-0 defeat to Hullbridge in midweek.

Of chief concern to the club will not be results but whether ground improvements can continue so they are eligible for one of the two regionalised Division Ones which come into operation next season.

Chairman Gary Snell said that the devolpment would continue and that Rocks were on course to collect their required grading.
