Xbox fever gripped Essex early today as Microsoft's much-hyped games console went on sale for the first time.
Shoppers rushed to Pitsea's 24-hour Tesco to buy a special consignment of the £299.99 machines from midnight.
The store, in Station Lane, sold a limited number of consoles early for dads who were worried teenagers would snap up all the computers while they were stuck at the office today.
Steven Garton, Tesco's category director, said: "We recognise every man loves the chance to be a boy again - no matter how old they are."
Meanwhile, Xbox devices were whisked from the shelves of Lakeside's Tesco Extra store.
The Electronics Boutique, in Town Square, Basildon, was also among stores racking up huge numbers of orders.
