Lloren Webb, nine, and Tamara Scrase, eight, have been chosen as Braintree carnival princesses while the queen is Laura Vodden, 18, of Medley Road, Rayne, a Braintree college A-level student.

They will be crowned at Bocking village fair on May 6 and will take their place at the head of the carnival procession on June 1 when the theme at Queen's jubilee time will be "It's a celebration."
Laura is also taking an NVQ in horse care at Writtle College, and in between studying, working part- time at the Wesh Princess Pub in Rayne and at an office she manages to look after her two horses.
