BAA Stansted's expansion could result in sixteen thousand new jobs at the airport by 2010 if the present airport planning application is given the go ahead by the Uttlesford Council.
At a time of increasing uncertainity in the labour market Stansted remains an employment hotspot for job seekers.
This week Stansted linked up with a job centre in Hackney to promote job opportunities at the airport. The job centre link is the latest in a series of initiatives BAA Stansted has put in place with the Employment Service which have included the New Deal and Training Skills programmes.
Nina Earle, Job Centre Manager at Stansted attended the launch on Tuesday together with 20 members of Employment Centre staff and representatives of airport employers Stansted Express, Servisair and WH Smith.
Ms Earle said: "We are inviting job advisors from Hackney to visit the airport for a behind the scenes look at the work of various jobs such as a ramp agent or passenger service agent."
Similar job centre links have been launched at Tottenham Hale, Cityside (Tower Hamlets) and Harlow.
BAA Stansted's HR director, John Norman said: "We are delighted to support this latest partnership initiative with Jobcentre Plus and look forward to welcoming more Hackney residents into employment at the airport."
