A goal early in each half was the key to Chelmsford securing a victory for the second week running when they completed the double over Hightown on Saturday.
The scoreline was a repeat of that at Chelmer Park earlier in the season and it provided Chelmsford with another crucial three points.
Chelmsford got off to the perfect start when they took the lead after three minutes.
Tracy Willmore and Lynn Bollington combined to set up Natalie Haynes who finished coolly to claim her first league goal for the club.
Chelmsford pressed for a second goal and Willmore did get the ball in the net, but her touch was just outside the area.
Chelmsford needed to survive a difficult spell and they managed to get to half-time with their goal intact, partly due to Roberts and also due to some excellent defending from the back four unit.
Chelmsford coach Karen Brown made a couple of minor adjustments to start the second half and within minutes of the restart it paid dividends.
Tammy Nancoo intercepted the ball in midfield and fed the ball to Willmore who found Bollington whose clever touch outwitted the onrushing goalkeeper Reid and left Nancoo with an empty net to roll the ball into.
It always looked, as if it would be the visitors who would score again, and so it proved to be the case.
Bollington went through on Reeve, who despite making the save, gave away a penalty corner.
Lisa Wooding slipped the ball to Nancoo who fired home her second goal to wrap the game up for Chelmsford.
