Thousands of pupils will be left in the lurch tomorrow as teachers stage a one-day strike over pay and conditions.
Regional leaders of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) are confident many schools in Basildon, Billericay, Wickford, Thurrock and Brentwood, will have to close.
No schools in Southend, Rochford or Castle Point districts will be affected.
