An elderly woman had her pension money snatched just minutes after she collected it.
She had been to the post office in Trinity Square in South Woodham Ferrers and picked up the cash before going into the Asda supermarket in the town.
But while shopping there two women started chatting to her for a long time while standing very close to her and she later discovered £50 had been taken from her bag.
A police spokesman said it was believed the two women could have been involved in the theft which took place last Tuesday morning.
Both the women spoke with foreign accents and were wearing dark clothing and anyone with information should contact South Woodham Ferrers police on 01245 320333 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
