Police are today working to trace the identity of a have-a-go hero who gave chase to a knifeman after a raid on a Southend off-licence.
The young man walked into the Drinks Cabin, in Hamstel Road, on Sunday evening to find himself in the middle of the crime. The robber pushed past the man, who gave chase without success.
The knifepoint raid was the second on a Southend shop on Sunday and police believe the robberies may be linked.
A police spokesman said: "The robber had a knife in his hand and forced the woman assistant to open the till. He grabbed about £120.
"The man gave chase, but didn't manage to catch the robber. He returned to the shop but didn't leave his contact details."
The other robbery that day was at 10.25am at the Budget Cards shop, in Woodgrange Drive, Southend, where a solo raider escaped with £50.
