A bid to stage a huge Canvey community festival has received a major boost, thanks to a millionaire businessman.
Terry Holding, who trailed banners from his plane during last June's General Election campaign, will back the event in July.
The island businessman, who owns car salvage firm HBC in Haven Road, plans to use his plane and his banner to promote the festivities on the seafront.
Mr Holding said: "I have talked with the Monico and I have said I will fly my plane and trail banners promoting the carnival the day before.
"I am doing this for the community."
Monico Leisure, which is sponsoring the event, has another reason to celebrate now Castle Point Council has given it the go-ahead to close parts of Eastern Esplanade and Furtherwick Road for the party on July 14.
